HAAS: Brittany & Natalie Haas
Brittany Haas, fiddle/violin · Natalie Haas, cello
With a guest appearance by cellist Amy Barston
For fans of Punch Brothers, Crooked Still, Celtic music, and adventurous acoustic sounds, this is an evening to mark on your calendar.
Brittany Haas, fiddler with the Grammy-winning Punch Brothers, joins her sister Natalie Haas, whose longtime collaboration with Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser has helped redefine the cello’s role in Celtic music. Together as HAAS, they blend American fiddle traditions, Celtic rhythms, and original compositions in a lively musical conversation between fiddle and cello.
The sisters grew up sharing Bach suites and Old-Time tunes before developing distinctive careers. Brittany’s musical path includes Crooked Still, Hawktail, and the Dave Rawlings Machine; Natalie combines her Juilliard training with a deep love of traditional music from Scotland, Ireland, and beyond. Their collaboration brings those influences together through irresistible rhythms, expressive melodies, and the musical connection of two sisters who have played together since childhood.
Following their debut album, HAAS, and the release of their second duo album, North Node, Brittany and Natalie bring their shared musical world to the Park Avenue Concert Series. Enjoy the artistry up close in an intimate Swarthmore setting, with a special guest appearance by cellist Amy Barston.
